Substance Meets Style at Upcoming Fashion Sustainability Conference

New York, NY-- Practices, processes and purpose. Those are the ways the fashion industry can work toward sustainability. Fashiondex and LIM College have partnered up for the second time to present the Fashion & Sustainability Summit, a one-day conference focusing on tangible solutions to help fashion businesses operate with sustainably and responsibly.

A sustainable business model can be both ethical and profitable and the Fashion & Sustainability Summit will explore ways for companies to increase sustainable practices in every area from fabric design and post-textile management to shipping and more. The summit will delve into how designers, manufacturers, and retailers can reduce their eco-impact while growing their business.

Elizabeth S. Marcuse, President of LIM College, notes, “Consistent with LIM College’s practical approach to education for the business of fashion, sustainability is an important aspect of our curriculum. We believe, as future leaders of fashion businesses, that our students must enter their careers with a mindset towards sustainability. This conference provides an important forum for fashion companies to learn how to advance their practices around the issue of sustainability in the here and now.”

“We are proud to partner once again with LIM College, who are members of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and are launching their new Sustainability minor this year,” said Fashiondex Director Max Andrews. “Finding practical solutions for fashion’s sustainability issues is not only urgent and the way to a healthy environment but also the way to a healthy bottom line.”
