Valerie Eguavoen is a movement lawyer, creative, and social justice advocate. She is the creator of ON A CURVE, an online editorial portfolio that redefines beauty, celebrates culture, and inspires creativity. She is also the founder of YOU BELONG NOW, a nonprofit social justice organization that sustains a movement of creatives committed to social change.

Valerie also currently serves as the Director of External Relations and Development for Repairers of the Breach, a national movement-building nonprofit organization, rooted in the South, that undergirds a modern-day moral fusion movement through the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. In 2018, she served as the Legal Coordinator for the Poor People’s Campaign, where she developed and managed a nationwide legal support program and database of volunteer lawyers and legal workers to support direct action in over 26 states. In 2016, Valerie served as a law and development fellow at Forward Justice and was an essential member of the 2016 Election Protection team. Before that, she was a program associate at Advancement Project and an assisting team member on NAACP v. McCrory, the landmark voting rights case that challenged and struck down North Carolina’s “monster” voter suppression bill.

Valerie is one of the leading voices for anti-racist practices and the culture change in the fashion and beauty industry.
