Tara Maurice is the Founder and Creative Director of McGuffin&Co, a bespoke agency helping clients answer the critical question, “What's your why?”, because the power that comes from being able to clearly articulate why anyone should give a damn about your brand is fundamental to making your way in the world today.
"The world needs designers, I would argue now more than ever. This moment requires designers to make less stuff, and create more ideas that envision better outcomes for people. Making sense out of nonsense, that’s the work that excites me.”
Having held design leadership roles for a handful of America’s most beloved brands, as DVP of Women’s RTW Design, Tara was part of the creative team at Coach to shepherd the brand through the most transformative period in the company's history, transforming the 75 year old house into a new breed of American luxury. This work was the spark that launched McGuffin&Co, grounding our vision of brand work as a precise hybrid of design and strategy, framed as storytelling for the user.
A native of Canada, Tara holds a BFA in Fashion Design from Otis Parsons in Los Angeles and is a Masters in Design for Social Innovation candidate at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, a one-of-a-kind program mobilizing designers as creators of new social conditions that seek to increase equity, social justice, resilience, sustainable and circular systems for the benefit of global communities. Tara is the creator of “The Less is More Project”, she and her husband reside in NYC with their two children.
