Katina is the Director of Sustainability at Away, a travel brand built for the modern traveler. Away prides itself on creating suitcases and travel accessories that are thoughtfully designed and built to last — luggage so good, you’ll never need (or want) to replace it.

Katina leads the company’s overall sustainability strategy, primarily working with external suppliers and internal supply chain and product teams to implement sustainable sourcing initiatives focused on human rights and environmental impacts. Together with her counterparts, she works to reduce the environmental impact of Away’s products throughout the entire value chain — from raw materials sourcing to end-of-use recycling initiatives.

With an extensive background in environmental science and sustainability, both in the public and private sectors, Katina hopes to bring scientific inquiry into the work of supply chain, design, and development teams. She is most interested in contributing social and environmental (as well as financial) value to product supply chains.

Katina holds a M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a B.A. in Environmental Science from Hunter College.
