Nicole Robertson is co-founder and CEO of swapsociety.co, an online clothing swap that gives women equal value for their clothes. Nicole loves fashion, but as a passionate environmentalist and human rights advocate, she felt the need to create a way for women to have fun with fashion without harming the earth or enslaving others. The rise of fast fashion has completely changed the way we consume clothing—more than ⅓ of women wear a clothing item less than 5 times before discarding it, and less than 20% of thrift shop donations ever get resold. Plus the apparel industry is one of the largest industrial polluters, and 36 million people are living in modern slavery today, many of who are working in the supply chains of Western brands. Swap Society feels like shopping online, and makes it easy for women to mix up their wardrobes in an economical and sustainable way, without guilt.

A cosmetics industry veteran, Nicole previously held senior-level positions for various beauty companies, and prior to founding Swap Society her passion for the environment led her to work as VP of Marketing for a NASDAQ-listed bioplastics manufacturer. Nicole is also an accomplished musician and retired dancer who lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their two toddler sons. Nicole received a B.A. from the University of Illinois, Chicago in Political Science.
